TOPICS 8 to 11

Counselling Skills

These sessions will be mainly done as pairs, trios and group work. we will learn how to listen, paraphrase, summarise, ask qustions and identify issues via behaviour as well as language content. We will not only learn these skills but understand why we can use them and how they are helpful.

as we move on in the course we will look at challenging and dealing with difficult clients or others within our work, home or in our social circles.

Life Coaching

This area is focused on looking at how to make changes in your behaviour and choices to reach the goals you want.

We will look at where you are now, investigate exactly what it is you are not happy with  and then to seek how you can change it. Within these sessions we will plot a goal line that you wish to reach in the future.

This is not a counselling session, however, if issues arise which you find are stopping you reaching your goal/s then I can offer seperate counselling to deal with these.

The sessions will use pictorial mapping, time lines and specific goal attainment tasks. Homework may be set to test how you can change in small steps or to enhance positive habitual behaviour.

These sessions can be done as a group and can highlight for many the little steps they wish to try.

Environment Coaching

These sessions are simply looking at your environment, you work in, you live in, you seek to socialise in. it looks at creating a better environment to see others in such at school when seing pupils or parents.

The way in which we set out our rooms can be aggressive to others or even defensive and as such creats an anxiety in you or others who visit you, this only serves to creat walls which can be hard to get past in futue meetings.

Setting the scene is important to how you want to be percieved and how you wish to reach your goal in that particular space, for example, relaxing or putting your concerns forward with parents.

We will look at colour, positioning of furniture, plants and why, your body language in relation to use of your room for example, sitting in an open and relaxed way in a comfortable seat.

Most importantly you will recieve guidance in making your space better what ever the restrictions or size!

Inner Pallette

This is a journey into your sub-conscious, how it expresses your feelings and emotions whether your aware of it or not. It will give you a great understanding of how you can express yourself in colour, line and form, it gives a good insight into how you feel at any time.

We will relax and tap into our sub-conscious to reveal the colours representing our feelings at that moment. We will keep a table of the colour that represents a particular feeling or emotion.

The meaning of colours on a general basis will be investigated and then looked at through art in history. We will use paint, pastels, pencils and pens.

This is a very creative work, however, it does deal with the mind and all that can surprise us hidden there, so each person will be given access to counselling sessions free of charge if they feel they need it.
